Our Candles

Our Unique Blends

We create our own unique blends of wax and fragrance to ensure a consistent aroma, superior burn quality and beautiful appearance.

Our waxes are a combination of mineral and vegetable waxes.  We blend these together to achieve a mix that gives superior performance, stability and reliability, and a fabulous scent throw.

The wax used is of a 'food grade' quality (not that we we suggest eating it!), like the wax found on cheese, and does not contain any animal products.

Drawing

We apply a combination of artisan methods including Drawing, Pouring and Moulding so that each candle is made with a personal touch to ensure superior quality in style, fragrance and burn.

Our first drawing machine was a great discovery, made by German engineers in the 1940's it is a triumph in efficient, traditional manufacturing.  So much so, we sourced a local engineer to create a copy of this model so that we could have two running simultaneously.

The process involves fixing a number of cotton wick strings around the large cylinder drums of the drawing machine in figure of eight shapes. The wicks then loosely glide through a pool of hot molten wax in between the drums and are coated layer upon layer until the required candle diameter is reached.

The drawing machines are rolling daily to create our long dinner candles, mini candles and long pillars - scented or unscented and in a range of colours; from ivory to our popular Bedruthan blue, olive green, charcoal grey and many more.

Pouring

We hand pour our unique blend of wax and fragrance into all shapes of pots, tins and tealights.  The wick is fixed to the base of the vessel and wax poured in gradually, allowed to set and then gently topped up.

We take care during this process to ensure a consistent and superior burn, with no air pockets or fragrance reduction, therefore  enhancing your candle experience.

Moulding

This is where our craft started, over 25 years ago; hand making ivory church pillar candles and multiwicks to a large range of sizes.  These beautiful candles look fantastic as table centre pieces, on alters, in candle holders or even lanterns.  They can be arranged together for an elegant display and are often used for funerals and weddings or to complement a natural home interior design.

Quality

Our candles undergo a rigorous testing process to ensure that the careful science and art of combining the wax, wick and fragrance is crafted for a safe, high quality and consistent burn.  We are members of the British Candle Makers Federation and we work together to raise the bar on candle manufacturing standards.

We specialise in the art of traditional candle making.  Please look for our artisan mark of quality on selected lines.
