A Home For Winter
October 23, 2015
It's no secret that we love our Great British wildlife and are always looking for the best way to look after them. On our farm we have created a perfect home for winter as part of RSPB's "Cornwall Corn bunting Recovery Project" but planting an array of flowers including devil's bit scabious, red campion and corncockle. Now we do understand that not everyone has access to meadows so here is a great DIY idea that you can create at home this winter.
Not only are they easy to build, they are now so popular you can now even buy them from Garden Centres and online. Here is a quick plan for how to make your own and it is fun for the whole family. Add little signs and quirky features to make it fun for the kids!
You will need:
-Three sheets of exterior plywood, at least 15 mm thick, and 600 mm wide by 2000 mm long
-Nails / screws
-Short length of narrow drainpipe •
-Dried moss and leaves
Top Tip- with Bonfire Night just around the corner this is the perfect alternative that those lovely critters sleeping in your bonfire pile.
If you are having a bonfire this year then be sure to check the pile thoroughly with a torch to make sure you have nothing sleeping in there!
